Hillrom recognises the change in increasing demands on our Heathcare professionals, due to stretched staffing levels and the increasing number of patients entering the hospital with more complex health conditions. How can we do more with less, but at the same time increasing the safety of healthcare professionals and ensuring our patients are moved and mobilised appropriately to reduce the risks of deconditioning and help to accelerate their recovery.
This Hillrom Safe Patient Handling and Mobility masterclass is designed and delivered by industry experts within the field of Ergonomics & Moving and Handling, to share insights on how we can accelerate patient recovery with evidenced based mobility assessments, the role assistive technology can plan within the recovery of patients but also share how assistive technology can help to increase efficiencies and safety of our workforce across the hospital.

Dr Mike Fray PhD, BSc(Hons), BHSc, MCSP FHEA, Senior Lecturer in Healthcare Ergonomics, Loughborough University
Dr Mike Fray is a Senior Lecturer in Healthcare Ergonomics at Loughborough University, UK, and created the world leading MSc programme for patient handling professionals. His career has included various physical therapy, rehabilitation and patient handling roles, now his research focuses on injury prevention, the evaluation of patient handling interventions, equipment design and ensuring safe systems. He has many book, journal and conference publications, and has contributed to many scientific journals, advisory boards and international professional bodies.
Sharon Rindsland, Moving and Handling Senior Co-ordinator of East Kent Hospital University Foundation Trust (EKHUFT)
Sharon has been working in moving and handling for over 22 years and has worked across many areas of Kent. She has held a number of posts within the NHS including senior positions in two acute trusts. In her current role Sharon assists the Trust at a strategic and operational level on how to implement the Moving and Handling Policy and co-ordinate on strategies to meet specific Trust and departmental needs. Sharon has a clinical background in mammography as a breast screening practitioner, and has worked more recently as one of the co-founders and director of RQS (Recognising Quality Solutions) an independent moving and handling consultancy providing award winning solutions and product assurance for individuals working within the moving and handling and care industry.
