What does the 5.0 error alert (e5.0) mean on my SureTemp Plus 690/692 thermometer?
keyboard_arrow_downThis means the heater is not working properly. Try a new temperature probe; if the error clears, you may continue to use your unit. If there error does not clear, please contact Hillrom Customer Support for more assistance. -
My SureTemp Plus 690/692 is stuck in axillary temperature mode. How do I change the default from axillary to oral temperature mode?
keyboard_arrow_downIn order to to do this, you must first be in Biotech Mode, then:
- Place the thermometer in the wall holder (Model 692 Only)
- Press and hold the Recall button, while removing the probe from the probe well. Once the probe is removed, release the Recall button.
- Press and release the Recall button until Default Mode is displayed in the upper left corner of screen
- To change between the Oral, Adult Axillary, and Pediatric Axillary modes, press and release the Mode Selection button. Observe that the display changes between ORAL, ADULT AXILLARY and PED AXILLARY when the Mode button is pressed.
- Replace the probe into the probe well to save default setting, then exit the Biotech mode. This will return the unit to normal operation.

My Welch Allyn SureTemp Plus 690 thermometer has an oral/axillary probe with part number 02692-000 or 02692-100 written on it, but my distributor says this is not a valid part number. What should I use to order a replacement probe?
keyboard_arrow_downWhile a SureTemp Plus oral/axillary replacement probe alone is not available for purchase, you can get one as part of a kit that also includes a new probe well. Both parts should be replaced at the same time per device maintenance. The part number for this SureTemp Plus Thermometer probe and well kit with a 4' coil cord is 02893-000; with a 9' coil cord, the part number is 02893-100. You can order this through your distributor. -
My Welch Allyn SureTemp Plus 690/692 thermometer is reading in Celsius. How do I change the default setting to Fahrenheit?
keyboard_arrow_downIn order to to do this, you must first be in Biotech Mode, then:
- Place the thermometer in the wall holder (Model 692 Only).
- Press and hold the Recall button, while removing the probe from the probe well. Once the probe is removed, release the Recall button.
- Press and release the Recall button to move sequentially through the various program categories until you see “Units Default” in the upper left hand corner of the screen.
- Change default temperature mode to Celsius or Fahrenheit by pressing and releasing the C/F button.
- Replace the probe into the probe well and the device will go into Biotech mode and return to normal operation.
